Potential Harmful Impact to:

Water

Under the proposed property are limestones known for their liability to form sinkholes and caves. An extensive network of sinkholes is documented near the site.

Quality of Life

Quarrying requires intense blasting practices that can launch dangerous debris onto surrounding properties. Noise pollution from the explosions can be debilitating for local residents. Any mining, drilling, etc could have considerable adverse effects on residential quality of life due to decreased property value and increased traffic.

Wildlife

Limestone mining can alter the flow of groundwater and impact aquatic wildlife. Land alterations and the removal of habitats can lead to the loss of wildlife habitat, disrupting local ecosystems and displacing wildlife populations. Within cave systems, aquatic ecosystems like two wetlands on the proposed site are vulnerable to being impacted.
